Carsten Ehrhardt, Prof. Dr. (Ireland)
Carsten is Professor in Pharmaceutics and Biopharmaceutics at the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Trinity College Dublin (TCD). In 2013, he was elected Fellow of TCD.
His research focus is on Inhalation Biopharmaceutics, i.e. studying the disposition and epithelial transport of drugs following their administration to the lungs using in vitro and ex vivo models. Moreover, he is interested in molecular origins of airways disease.
He has edited 1 book and (co)-authored 109 peer-reviewed publications and over 250 abstracts. In 2013, he hosted the first Workshop on Pulmonary Drug Delivery, which has become an annual event alternating between Dublin and
Istanbul. He previously chaired the Awards Committee (2019-2021), of which he was a member from 2015-2019, and co-chaired the ISAM networking group on Emerging Therapies (2011-13) and Imaging, Modelling and Physiology of Aerosols and the Lung (2013-2015). He was also a member of the Scientific Program Committee for the upcoming 24th Congress of the Society held in Saarbrücken in August 2023.
His continuing goals as part of the ISAM leadership are to promote opportunities for networking, professional development and career advancement for graduate students, early career professionals, women, underrepresented minorities, and international scientists.
