Networking groups represent an important part of ISAM to enable interaction between members and make the society living and active. Listed below are the seven networking groups and their chairs. ISAM Networking groups are managed by our Networking
Chairs and limited to ISAM Members assigned to the specific Networking Group. Join ISAM and connect to the Networking Chairs to join the specific Networking Groups.
New Devices, Emerging Therapies and e-Health
Our group offers a platform for experts in New Devices, Emerging Therapies and e-Health. Our interdisciplinary group includes international leading scientists in inhaled drug-device
combination product development. We cover and foster science in Aerosol drug delivery devices (ADDD) as pressurised Metered-Dose-Inhalers (pMDI), Dry-Powder-Inhalers (DPI), nebulizers using jet, vibrating mesh or soft-mist technologies,
new developments of Orally Inhaled and Nasal Drug Products (OINDP) and e-Health solution using connected device or digital technologies.
Pediatrics and Cystic Fibrosis
This networking group includes; a review of surfactant therapy in preterm infants and discuss the latest developments in less and non-invasive delivery methods, the challenges of adherence in children with asthma and how extending
patents to included children may breathe new life into existing combination product intellectual property.
Imaging, Modeling, and Physiology of Aerosols in the Lung
In our group we cover pre-clinical models of aerosol drug deposition and efficacy, including in vivo and in-silico models of dosing, pharmacokinetics and therapeutic effects, clinical studies of deposited aerosol dose using scintigraphy techniques. Aerosol-based
imaging techniques for quantifying lung physiology or evaluating therapeutic effect will also be included.
Regulatory and Standardization Issues
We cover Regulatory and Standardization issues for health care workers and regulatory guidance and policies to accelerate development and approval of inhaled therapeutics.
Environmental/Occupational - Health/Toxicology
The Environmental/Occupational Health/Toxicology Networking Group challenges engineers, scientists, and clinicians to come together to promote aspects of aerosol research, involving the health effects of inhaled therapeutical, environmental
and occupational aerosols. Our group aims to advance the knowledge on in vitro testing models and aerosol exposure - either from environmental sources or for medicinal purposes – its fate and its impact on pulmonary health. To
do so, we foster discussion among academic, clinical and industrial members, and thereby promote education in the area of pulmonary medicine.
Women in Aerosol Research
Women’s Networking group engages in activities to increase the engagement and retention of women within ISAM, highlight contributions of women in the field, provide networking means for women in ISAM to use each other as resources,
enhance leadership and career development opportunities for women, develop and/or distribute resources on subjects pertaining to women in ISAM, and mobilize ISAM to meet the needs of existing and potential female members of ISAM.
Young Investigator - Early Career
ISAM Young Investigator and Early Careers Networking Group support young group leaders and scientists working in aerosol medicine. With our educational programs and our unique network, we want to promote the early careers of our young
ISAM members and give them a platform to connect to other young investigators.
Networking Group: New Devices, Emerging Therapies and e-Health
In this Networking Group we cover all aspects of Aerosol drug delivery devices (ADDD) as pressurised Metered-Dose-Inhalers (pMDI), Dry-Powder-Inhaler (DPI), Liquid-Metered-Inhalers (MLI), nebulizers using jet, vibrating mesh or soft-mist
technologies.
Further we cover and exchange experience on strategies, development activities and issues with orally inhaled and nasal drug products (OINDP) with worldwide leading experts.
