We’re excited to announce our next ISAM Webinar, featuring two emerging researchers in the field of respiratory science: Michael Neary, PhD candidate at University College Cork, Ireland, and Lucy Goodacre, PhD candidate, researcher at King’s College London and Nanopharm Ltd., UK.
Pulmonary and nasal drug delivery offer non-invasive alternatives for both local and systemic therapies. These routes enable rapid absorption, bypass first-pass metabolism, and support innovative approaches like RNA therapeutics and nose-to-brain delivery. Advances in formulation and in-vitro modelling are driving new possibilities in respiratory and neurological treatment.
This session presents two complementary approaches to non-invasive drug delivery - pulmonary administration of RNA therapeutics and advanced in-vitro modelling for nasal deposition. The presentations focus on how formulation design and experimental methodology influence delivery performance and inform early-stage research.
Key points:
*Delivery of siRNA via vibrating mesh nebulizers: formulation stability and gene silencing efficiency
*Comparative evaluation of lipid-based nanocarriers for pulmonary RNA delivery
*Development of thermoresponsive mucus simulants for nasal cast coating
*Strategies to improve reproducibility and physiological relevance in nasal deposition studies
*Refinement of in-vitro models to support intranasal drug development
