There have been significant advances in the treatment of pulmonary hypertension (PH) over recent years and it is an increasingly diagnosed condition. Respiratory physicians therefore need to have a good understanding of the various forms of PH, the correct diagnostic approach and the available treatments.

This course will identify the different processes involved in diagnosing and managing pulmonary hypertension. Diagnostic techniques and treatment modalities will be discussed. Participants will also be provided with an understanding of the pathogenesis of these conditions.

Learning outcomes

By attending this course, participants will:

  • Acquire the knowledge of pulmonary hypertension classification
  • Understand the pulmonary hypertension diagnosis processes including radiology, echocardiography interpretation and pathophysiology underpinning pulmonary hypertension
  • Gain basic practical skills in echocardiography
  • Be able to initiate appropriate investigations and understand the pathogenesis of the condition
  • Learn the basics behind modern treatment of pulmonary hypertension

CME credits

An application will be submitted to the European Board for Accreditation in Pneumology (EBAP) for CME accreditation of this event.
