Sabine Häußermann, PhD. (Germany)
Sabine Häussermann has dedicated over 30 years to the field of respiratory diseases and drug delivery. Throughout her career, she has worked across various positions, initially focusing on basic and applied research to optimize
drug delivery to the respiratory tract. Early in her career, she worked at Joachim Heyder's group in Munich, Germany, on targeted aerosol deposition in the-lungs, and later with Michael Bailey's group at NRPB in Didcot, UK
and Yung Sung Chengs group at LRRI in Albuquerque.
Her work then transitioned to applied research at named, a company founded by Gerhard Scheuch, where she contributed to clinical trials in inhaled therapeutics. Sabine later shifted her focus to clinical research, exploring the
synergy between-medical gases and aerosolized drugs at Air Liquide in France and Linde in Germany.
Building on her experience, Sabine turned her attention to digital solutions aimed at improving treatment for respiratory diseases. Her-mission is-to-bring-effective healthcare to patients in a cost-efficient manner.
In 2017, she founded VisionHealth to enhance asthma and COPD therapy by empowering.patients-to-understand and adhere to their.prescribed treatments. The VisionHealth team developed the app Kata, which supports patients in their
daily-journey. Sabine's research interests focus on aerosol-medicine, particularly optimizing. drug delivery with everyday inhaler devices-used-by asthma and COPD patients.
Sabine holds a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Munich and-earned-her PhD in nasal deposition of aerosols from the University of Southampton.
Sabine is also an active member of various respiratory health societies, including the American Thoracic Society (ATS), the European Respiratory Society (ERS), and the German Respiratory Society (DGP). Furthermore, she is involved
with the German-Aerosol Society (DATS), which organizes annual-meetings that-bring together physicians, industry professionals, and researchers.
A committed member of ISAM since 2001, Sabine has demonstrated sustained-dedication to the organization. She served as a board member, general secretary, and-treasurer from 2013 to 2021 and acted as congress president for the ISAM
Congress-in Munich in 2015. Additionally, she played a key role in initiating several ISAM webinars.
As ISAM President, Sabine-aims to align the organization's mission with the goals of its members by actively engaging with them and expanding-outreach efforts. She is committed to strengthening scientific discourse and-leading
ISAM further into the digital era. Her vision includes attracting new members and ensuring ISAM remains both appealing and financially stable.
